  The reasons I return without fail to Alex? Attention and presence. Early on I noticed something very unusual about Alex – at a time when he was dealing with his own paperwork and billing he displayed remarkable attention to exactly how he did so. He would place a piece of paper just so on the desk, regard it, turn to his next task, deal with that in turn while listening to a question or comment from me, deal with me in turn and complete the entire sequence of tasks without a wasted motion or moment of inattention. By my reckoning, that level of focus in a task which really did not require it meant that Alex would always address my dental needs with utmost efficiency and effectiveness. When I ask a technical question (as I am wont to do), Alex always has the answer. He is always interested. He is perpetually attuned to his professional intellect and treats my questions with scientific rigour. Alex is a third generation dentist. I don’t think there is anything that could substitute for his growing up in an environment where dentistry was prevalent. I have attended Alex since before he had his own practice and have followed him wherever he might be, now for something like 17 years. In fact, I follow him wherever I might be, having attended his surgery while living overseas. I found his professionalism worth the air flights and he is the only dentist in the world that I am aware of to whom I would entrust my children’s dentistry.
